Gakura is a Japanese-learning platform designed so that a learner can go from kana to workplace Japanese without switching brands along the way.
In Japanese-language learning, beginner material and serious material usually live in separate services. A learner who has finished hiragana and katakana has to sign up somewhere else for JLPT study or conversation practice. Gakura removes that break, holding everything from the first character to workplace Japanese on a single learning record.

Learning kana
- All 92 characters, including voiced and semi-voiced forms, practised by typing and multiple choice
- Native-recorded audio, a full kana chart and stroke-order animation
- Spaced repetition and weak-point drills, with mastery shown as a heatmap
- A mastery test that can serve as an objective requirement for moving to the next stage
Structured JLPT material
- N5 through N1, organised as course, lesson and section
- One viewer for vocabulary, conversation, practice and can-do statements
- Vocabulary tests and expression review to confirm retention
- Certificates issued on completion, with a way to verify they are genuine
Live lessons and AI assessment
- Live lessons with human tutors over Zoom, with booking management
- AI speech assessment, covering the conversational ability that material alone struggles to build
- Learning analytics that show both learner and administrator where progress has stalled
- Tutor recruitment, screening and onboarding handled in the platform

Who it is for
For
Gakura is for learners of Japanese anywhere in the world, for foreign professionals working in Japan, and for the Japanese employers training them. Our group treats B-JET — the Bangladesh-Japan ICT Engineers’ Training Program — as a priority segment, and aims to support the whole path from starting to study abroad through to working in Japanese on the job.
